Wednesday - Welcome back! Today we will present our Alternative Assessments as a class. After the presentations, we will set goals for 2019 on the white board. Journal entry on the Socratic Seminar and Alas, Babylon as a whole. Share out and discuss as a class.
Friday - Today we will read, annotate, and discuss a current events article through our Article of the Week recurring assignment. A close look will be given to ethos, pathos, logos within the article.

Monday - End of the book, along with the chapters 11-13 reading questions, is due today. We will review the reading questions and have Most Important Page presentations. Go over Weebly page and talk about the upcoming Alternative Assessment and Socratic Seminar.
Tuesday - Go over theme and metaphorical analysis as a class. Pass out Alternative Assessment and Socratic Seminar materials. Allow students class time to prepare for the seminar, which will be tomorrow morning. Assign out the two groups. Wednesday - Socratic Seminar. This will be a part of the test grade, along with the Alternative Assessment. After the seminar, if there is time remaining, allow students to work on their Alternative Assessments. Friday - Holiday show. Completed Alternative Assessments will be due when the students come back on January 2nd. Have a great break! Monday - Quick vocabulary quiz for chapters 6-7 of the book. Most Important Page from 8-10. Pass out reading questions for chapters 11-13, which will be due on Friday. Give students some time to read in class.
Tuesday - SAT Reading practice test. Wednesday - 35 minutes at the beginning of class on the SAT Writing section. After the practice test is completed, we will go through the answers and compute the scores. Map of America activity from chapter 7-8. Friday - Chapters 9-10 are due today. Most Important Pages. DO NOW: How close do you believe we are to a nuclear war/event? Explain. Doomsday Clock article. Discussion on article. YouTube connection piece and Alas, Babylon connection - write down all that changes after a nuclear bomb is dropped. |
