Monday - Today will we will review Act III by working on an activity that deals with the legal process of the Salem Witch Trials. Students will be given proof and confession scenarios that will make them think critically about the implications that their decisions have on others - just like in The Crucible. Share out scenarios to the class.

Write first free response journal (FRJ) and make sure students understand what these entail. 4 corner discussion about what each student wrote about. Movie, if time. Friday - Vocabulary quiz! Read after quiz. Movie, if time. Monday - Pass out The Crucible books and have students fill out book cards for their assigned books. Give students Act I reading questions, which will be due once Act I is finished. Go over characters and assign out parts. Begin reading.

Review NYT article from Monday night. What did we learn from it? How does Salem, MA seem to be? A city upon a hill like we took notes about? Continue reading as a class. Begin watching movie, if time. Thursday - DO NOW to begin class. Read together for twenty minutes. Pass out activity packet for the entirety of the play. Allow students time to work on the packets. Share out responses to the various activity sheets. Friday - Continue reading as a class. Work on character chart and close reading questions.
