Monday - Read aloud the end of Act II Scene III with Walter crying out. QUIZ from the weekend's reading. Review quiz as a class. Watch end of Act II from the movie.
HW - Continue filling out reading question packet. Tuesday - DO NOW: What is contrast? How does Hansberry use contrast to define the characters and their emotions? Look at three different instances of contrast within the play. How are the characters' traits and emotions amplified? Journal: Give an example from your life where an innocent person has been exploited by a dishonest person. Read with the time remaining. Wednesday/Thursday - Read for twenty minutes. Revisiting our "Values Chart" from the beginning of the book. Complete the values chart for two different characters from the play. Discussion on the charts. Movie. Friday - Finish book and movie. HW - Create at least 5 test review questions for Monday. - Reading question packet due on Monday.

Monday - DO NOW: Now that Mama has handed the family over to Walter Lee, how do you think things will be in his hands? Assign out parts and act out parts from Act II of A Raisin in the Sun. Movie, if time.
Tuesday - SAT Reading work. The students will read and respond to an SAT-style passage. This will be timed and simulated like the actual test. With the remaining time we will read and continue with the book. Wednesday - The students will be given a small reading packet of A Raisin in the Sun to read over break. Read 10 pages. Movie, if. time allows. Wednesday/Thursday - Brainstorm as many restrictions/laws against African-Americans during segregation as possible. Jigsaw Jim Crow Laws and articles. Share out and take notes. Read/movie. Friday - DO NOW: What do Beneatha's two suitors really represent. Make a venn diagram and compare/contrast the two. Assign out parts and act out play. Movie, if time. Monday - Quiz on Act I of A Raisin in the Sun. The quiz will include vocabulary, multiple choice, and a constructed response portion.

Taking a close look at Mama's plant and the symbolism. Thursday - Read Act II and assign out parts. Looking at cockroaches and their importance in the play. What do the cockroaches symbolize? Continue watching movie. HW - In at least two paragraphs, explain how Beneatha, Ruth, and Mama represent the changing feminine roles of the time. Friday - NO SCHOOL.
