Tuesday - Prezi on the life of William Shakespeare with guided notes. Assign out reading parts. Begin movie. Wednesday/Thursday - Romeo iPhone activity. Independent writing work. Share out as a whole class. Continue reading and watch movie, if time. Friday - Iambic pentameter work. Group work for selected lines from some of Shakespeare's works. Share out. Pass out vocabulary words. Read as a class. Movie.

Monday - Begin writing essays. The students will also have the next class to finish the papers up. They will be due at the end of class on Tuesday.
Tuesday - Complete code hero essay papers. If completed early, the students may independently read. Wednesday/Thursday - Essays are due. Students will turn in their papers and we will be done with our Hemingway Code Hero unit! Looking at famous quotes from Romeo and Juliet. What questions do you have about the book? What do you hope to learn? Anticipation guide independent work. Face-to-face activity. Share out. Friday - Independent reading for the first 15 minutes of class. Prologue activity. Partner work. Continue reading as a class. Wednesday/Thursday - Friday - Finish movie and pass out essay assignment and rubric. Introduction and conclusion essay work. Next week we will be in the computer lab to work on the essays.
Friday - Begin planning essays through our essay planner worksheet. This must be turned in on Monday before the students can begin writing their code hero essay. Monday - Four corner discussion for the first 20 minutes of class. Journal entry on the discussion process right after the discussions are done. Turn in alternative assessments and begin presentations.
Tuesday - SNOW DAY. Wednesday/Thursday - Complete any more presentations. End of the unit PowerPoint on the key themes and elements from The Old Man and the Sea. Once completed, we will then transition into the last part of our unit: the code hero essay. We will compare the code hero characteristics from the book to the famous Will Smith movie, The Pursuit of Happyness. Pass out writing planner and outline, which will be completed as the students watch the film. Begin watching the movie. Friday - Continue watching the movie and working on our writing planner/outline. |
