Monday - Go over writing assignment - this will be an IN-CLASS ESSAY, so everything will be done in class. Talk over writing prompts. Begin finding quotes for paper. Work on outline for paper.
Tuesday - Read for the first 15 minutes of class. Time in either the computer lab or with the computer cart to work on Romeo and Juliet paper. Wednesday/Thursday - Read for the first 15 minutes of class. Time in either the computer lab or with the computer cart to work on Romeo and Juliet paper. Friday - Papers will be due by the end of the class. Students can either finish up their papers, peer edit, review, or turn in their paper and work on an article of the week.

Monday - DO NOW: Who is your favorite character thus far in the play? Explain your thoughts. Journal entry in that character's point-of-view. Share out journals. Continue reading Act II. Movie, if time.
Tuesday - Film analysis of the famous balcony scene in Act II. Students will watch the other two versions of the film that we have yet to see - Luhrmann and Zefirelli - and compare and contrast each. Individual work on worksheet. Share out. Continue reading and watching movie. Wednesday/Thursday - How many different themes have appeared thus far in Romeo and Juliet? Students will get into pairs and list as many as possible. What about different conflicts? List again. Close look at medicine during the time period. Continue reading as a class. Friday - Today we will just read aloud and answer our reading questions, as it is a half-day and classes are shortened. Continue back with a normal schedule on Monday! Monday/Tuesday - NO SCHOOL. ENJOY THE SHORT BREAK.
Wednesday/Thursday - Students will create a character map for all of the Montagues and Capulets. Who is who? Who falls under each house? Iambic pentameter/rhyme scheme practice. Read and watch movie. Friday - Timeline of events up to this point. Assign out parts and continue with our reading. Work on reading questions in groups. Movie, if time. Monday - Since our unexpected snow day took time away from us last week, we will make up the iPhone exercise today, if need be. Read as a class. Discussion questions in journals and with a partner. Continue watching movie.

Vocabulary will also be a part of this quiz. Assign out parts and continue with our reading as a class. |
