Monday - Essays are due at the start of class. Turn in essays. Share out thesis statements and what each student wrote their paper on. Journal entry on writing process. DO NOW: Why has Capulet's feelings about Juliet's marriage to Paris changed? Discussion on parental concern to social status. Read as a class.
Tuesday/Wednesday - DO NOW: Are there different types of love? Explain in your journal. Looking at the different types of love present within Romeo and Juliet. Students will find parts of the book that supports each kind of love. Share out. Assign out parts and continue reading as a class. Movie, if time.
Thursday - Begin class with "What We Know" activity. This will be important as we transition into the end of the book. Discuss with a partner and write on the board. Iambic pentameter work. Act out reading and watch movie.
Friday - Rewrite the Friar's plan for Romeo and Juliet. What were the problems within the plan? Address the mistakes in the plan and make amendments for each. Share out. Read and watch movie.
Monday - Go over writing assignment. Talk over writing prompts. Begin finding quotes for paper. Work on outline for paper.
Tuesday/Wednesday - Read for the first 15 minutes of class. Time in either the computer lab or with the computer cart to work on Romeo and Juliet paper.
Thursday - Read for the first 15 minutes of class. Time in either the computer lab or with the computer cart to work on Romeo and Juliet paper.
Friday - Article of the week. Papers will be due on Monday!

Tuesday - NO SCHOOL DUE TO SNOW.
Wednesday/Thursday - Film analysis of the famous balcony scene in Act II. Students will watch the other two versions of the film that we have yet to see - Luhrmann and Zefirelli - and compare and contrast each. Individual work on worksheet. Share out. Continue reading and watching movie.
Friday - Pass out essay question options. Next week we will begin writing essays for the unit. Assign out parts, continue reading, and watch movie.
Monday - Vocabulary quiz (associative tools may used) with Act I multiple choice questions. Continue reading.
Tuesday/Wednesday - Students will create a character map for all of the Montagues and Capulets. Who is who? Who falls under each house? Iambic pentameter practice. Read and watch movie.
Thursday - Timeline of events up to this point. Journal entry in character's point-of-view. Assign out parts and continue with our reading. Work on reading questions in groups.
Friday - How many different themes have appeared thus far in Romeo and Juliet? Students will get into pairs and list as many as possible. What about different conflicts? List again. Close look at medicine during the time period. Continue reading as a class.
